Toyota Prius Gen 4

The All New Toyota Prius

Hello, this Anders Raine at Toyota of Bozeman.  I am very excited to introduce the flagship hybrid in the US, the Toyota Prius, as it is transformed into the its 4th generation model. The 4th generation undergoes a major overhaul and brings back the uniqueness of the Prius lineup with an all new exterior and interior design. Every part of the Prius has been redesigned to be more efficient and Eco-friendly than any other model before it.

The new Prius will be larger than before, increasing the already impressive 21.6 Cu. Ft. of storage by at least 3 to 24.6 or even 27.4 Cu. Ft. depending on which configuration you select.

New Toyota Prius Trims and Improvements

Available Trim levels have changed in the new generation as well.  Package level 5 is being discontinued, however there is a new package, designated as a  2 ECO. The Eco model is predicted to average 58 highway and 53 city for a combined average of 56 mpg! It does this by utilizing a new lithium-ion battery that shaves off 36 lbs. of weight.  Also, more efficient power components are designed to produce less parasitic drag producing less heat and resistance during operation. A great new addition for us who live in cooler climates is that the Prius is designed with a system to recapture heat loss in the exhaust to recycle heated elements in the vehicle allowing the car to warm up even faster than before.

The new Prius also has a new rear suspension giving its occupants a better ride quality than ever before. The 3rd generation has a slightly “rougher” riding torsion beam rear suspension which is now being upgraded to a smoother riding, better handling double wishbone suspension with stabilizer bar bracing. This is paired to either a 15” or 17” tire.

Toyota Prius Safety

Toyota has always been on the front-lines of safety in their lineup, the Prius is no exception to this. Toyota offers the Star Safety System across the Toyota lineup. This system includes: Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock breaks (ABS), Electronic Break Force Distribution (EBD), Break Assist (BA), and Smart Stop Technology (SST). Eight advanced airbags surround the occupants in the car as well. New this year to Prius is a Touring grade model with Toyota Safety Sense which includes: a Pre-collision system and Pedestrian Detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, auto high beam and my favorite a Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control .

The 4th generation Prius is expected to hit the lots early in 2016, and with it a new phase of the Prius will begin.
