Chord Rustlers

The Chord Rustlers are a talented group of men of many different ages who meet together in celebration of the renowned American art form of barbershop music.

They have several performances throughout the year, singing for local and charitable organizations, private groups, churches, community events, and fundraisers.

They truly enjoy hosting their own musical events each year for the community, their friends, and families. Their quartets perform “Singing Valentines” on Valentine’s Day, and in order to stay committed to singing and performing at the highest level possible, they attend the regional competitions each year. If you are interested in hearing them sing, you can attend a four-part harmony on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Rehearsals are held at the Catholic Community Center, 210 S. Grand Ave, Bozeman.

Chord Rustlers mission is to sing a Capella, four-part harmony, in the barbershop style, to support vocal music education of youth, and to provide audiences with wholesome entertainment for all occasions by men who enjoy musical and social camaraderie, desiring to share their love of music within the community, and who aspire to grow in musical excellence and preserve the tradition of four-part harmony singing.”

The main purpose of the Chord Rustlers is to get out and sing for our community. We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at an annual competition. We also perform Singing Valentines around Valentines Day. We are available to sing at your next function or event.

Along with sharing their musical enthusiasm with the public, another great passion of the Chord Rustlers is the continuation of always staying educated on the art of a Capella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year, they receive instruction from a visiting master in the art of barbershop.

In the spring of every year, the Chord Rustlers participate in the Division chorus competition. Competitions are an important and unique time for quartets and choruses from the Montana region to assemble to sing for each other and get constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the district competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to the International Competition, which is held in the summer in a city selected each year.
