Bozeman School Board Approves School Calendar for 2015-2016
According to an article in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the Bozeman School Board decided Monday that starting the school year after Labor Day won’t work this fall. Instead, school will start on Aug. 31 and end June 10. The article notes that while many parents and teachers liked the idea of starting school after Labor Day, the board found that it is not feasible for the upcoming school year since Labor Day is later this year. The holiday falls on Sept. 7 and starting school after that would mean pushing everything else back, including graduation. The article states that this plan won’t work because the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse at Montana State University has to be reserved years in advance for graduation and the June 5 graduation date would be difficult to change. According to the article, the school board voted 6-0 to approve the new calendar for 2015-2016, which adds two days to the high school students’ calendar. All students will have two weeks off for winter break and one week for spring break. To read the full article, visit bozemandailychronicle.com.
